Corona Australis

Let us see a constellation with a name that you have heard over and over for the past 5 months - Corona Australis. (ya this was the big reveal that I was talking about )

Corona Australis Constellation:

Corona Australis is a small constellation bordered by Sagittarius to the north, Scorpius to the west, Telescopium to the south.

While not a bright constellation, Corona Australis is nonetheless distinctive due to its easily identifiable pattern of stars, which has been described as horseshoe or oval-shaped. It is 80th in size and Corona Australis belongs to the Hercules family of constellations, along with Aquila, Ara, Centaurus, Corvus, Crater, Crux, Cygnus, Hercules, Hydra, Lupus, Lyra, Ophiuchus, Sagitta, Scutum, Sextans, Serpens, Triangulum Australe, and Vulpecula. Some of which we have seen already.

Its name means “the southern crown” in Latin along with another constellation representing the northern crown, Corona Borealis. Alphekka Meridiana is the brightest star in the constellation.
